The Living Figures
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
The diversity landscape of Plymouth is visibly changing. The citys universities have actively attracted students from the Global Majority, some of whom have stayed and made Plymouth their home. For many years the city has been a dispersal area, supporting asylum seekers and refugees.
The city has seemingly attracted individuals with a propensity for leadership in business, academia, community cohesion and the arts. Many of their stories are compelling and speak to a collective spirit of resilience and entrepreneurship.
The Hidden Figures project is working with The Box, Plymouth’s flagship museum, art gallery and archive, to document and archive the contributions of these living figures for future generations.
David Feindouno
David Feindouno arrived in Plymouth in 2008 as an Asylum Seeker. His passion to address the isolation among fellow Asylum Seekers led to him founding Plymouth Hope Football Club, a charity that aims to foster community cohesion and create opportunities for support.
Watch David tell his story in the interview below with Jackie Wacha.
